In hot humid climates, fire ants are resoundingly despised, and for good reason. Regular ants aerate the soil, of course, and we all love them for their industrious hard work.
Sure, that’s true of regular ants, but you won’t be finding any “fire ant farms”. Because they attack people and animals. Especially in the Southeastern United States, you’ll hear just terrible stories about the accursed fire ant.
The people at Ortho Lawn and Garden took two wise actions to help folks fight back: first, they developed Antstop Orthene Fireant Killer. Then, they hired April Winchell to produce commercials about it.
These ads have won just about every award an ad can win, including the Clio and the Grand Andy. And oh yeah, about a billion people went to the store and bought the stuff. Others called their radio station to request the Ortho commercial! I’m delighted to be the voice of these spots. |
